Men and Vows 30:1 Moses spoke to the heads of the tribes of the people of Israel, saying, “This is what the Lord has commanded.
2 If a man vows a vow to the Lord, or swears an oath to bind himself by a pledge, he shall not break his word. He shall do according to all that proceeds out of his mouth.
Women and Vows3 “If a woman vows a vow to the Lord and binds herself by a pledge, while within her father’s house in her youth,
4 and her father hears of her vow and of her pledge by which she has bound herself and says nothing to her, then all her vows shall stand, and every pledge by which she has bound herself shall stand.
5 But if her father opposes her on the day that he hears of it, no vow of hers, no pledge by which she has bound herself shall stand. And the Lord will forgive her, because her father opposed her.
6 “If she marries a husband, while under her vows or any thoughtless utterance of her lips by which she has bound herself,
7 and her husband hears of it and says nothing to her on the day that he hears, then her vows shall stand, and her pledges by which she has bound herself shall stand.
8 But if, on the day that her husband comes to hear of it, he opposes her, then he makes void her vow that was on her, and the thoughtless utterance of her lips by which she bound herself. And the Lord will forgive her.
9 (But any vow of a widow or of a divorced woman, anything by which she has bound herself, shall stand against her.)
10 And if she vowed in her husband’s house or bound herself by a pledge with an oath,
11 and her husband heard of it and said nothing to her and did not oppose her, then all her vows shall stand, and every pledge by which she bound herself shall stand.
12 But if her husband makes them null and void on the day that he hears them, then whatever proceeds out of her lips concerning her vows or concerning her pledge of herself shall not stand. Her husband has made them void, and the Lord will forgive her.
13 Any vow and any binding oath to afflict herself, her husband may establish, or her husband may make void.
14 But if her husband says nothing to her from day to day, then he establishes all her vows or all her pledges that are upon her. He has established them, because he said nothing to her on the day that he heard of them.
15 But if he makes them null and void after he has heard of them, then he shall bear her iniquity.”
16 These are the statutes that the Lord commanded Moses about a man and his wife and about a father and his daughter while she is in her youth within her father’s house.

My Soul Waits for God AloneTo the choirmaster: according to Jeduthun. A Psalm of David.62:1 For God alone my soul waits in silence;from him comes my salvation.
2 He alone is my rock and my salvation,my fortress; I shall not be greatly shaken.
3 How long will all of you attack a manto batter him, like a leaning wall, a tottering fence?
4 They only plan to thrust him down from his high position. They take pleasure in falsehood. They bless with their mouths, but inwardly they curse. Selah
5 For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from him.
6 He only is my rock and my salvation,my fortress; I shall not be shaken.
7 On God rests my salvation and my glory;my mighty rock, my refuge is God.
8 Trust in him at all times, O people;pour out your heart before him;God is a refuge for us. Selah
9 Those of low estate are but a breath;those of high estate are a delusion;in the balances they go up;they are together lighter than a breath.
10 Put no trust in extortion;set no vain hopes on robbery;if riches increase, set not your heart on them.
11 Once God has spoken;twice have I heard this:that power belongs to God,
12 and that to you, O Lord, belongs steadfast love. For you will render to a manaccording to his work.

My Soul Thirsts for YouA Psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah.63:1 O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you;my soul thirsts for you;my flesh faints for you,as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.
2 So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary, beholding your power and glory.
3 Because your steadfast love is better than life,my lips will praise you.
4 So I will bless you as long as I live;in your name I will lift up my hands.
5 My soul will be satisfied as with fat and rich food, and my mouth will praise you with joyful lips,
6 when I remember you upon my bed,and meditate on you in the watches of the night;
7 for you have been my help, and in the shadow of your wings I will sing for joy.
8 My soul clings to you;your right hand upholds me.
9 But those who seek to destroy my lifeshall go down into the depths of the earth;
10 they shall be given over to the power of the sword;they shall be a portion for jackals.
11 But the king shall rejoice in God;all who swear by him shall exult, for the mouths of liars will be stopped.

18 Where there is no prophetic vision the people cast off restraint, but blessed is he who keeps the law.
19 By mere words a servant is not disciplined, for though he understands, he will not respond.
20 Do you see a man who is hasty in his words? There is more hope for a fool than for him.
21 Whoever pampers his servant from childhoodwill in the end find him his heir.
22 A man of wrath stirs up strife, and one given to anger causes much transgression.
23 One’s pride will bring him low,but he who is lowly in spirit will obtain honor.
24 The partner of a thief hates his own life;he hears the curse, but discloses nothing.
25 The fear of man lays a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is safe.
26 Many seek the face of a ruler, but it is from the Lord that a man gets justice.
27 An unjust man is an abomination to the righteous, but one whose way is straight is an abomination to the wicked.
