God Will Swallow Up Death Forever25:1 O Lord, you are my God;I will exalt you; I will praise your name, for you have done wonderful things, plans formed of old, faithful and sure. 2 For you have made the city a heap, the fortified city a ruin;the foreigners’ palace is a city no more;it will never be rebuilt. 3 Therefore strong peoples will glorify you;cities of ruthless nations will fear you. 4 For you have been a stronghold to the poor,a stronghold to the needy in his distress,a shelter from the storm and a shade from the heat;for the breath of the ruthless is like a storm against a wall, 5 like heat in a dry place. You subdue the noise of the foreigners;as heat by the shade of a cloud,so the song of the ruthless is put down.ISAIAH 26

You Keep Him in Perfect Peace 26:1 In that day this song will be sung in the land of Judah:“We have a strong city;he sets up salvationas walls and bulwarks. 2 Open the gates, that the righteous nation that keeps faith may enter in. 3 You keep him in perfect peacewhose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. 4 Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock. 5 For he has humbledthe inhabitants of the height, the lofty city.He lays it low, lays it low to the ground, casts it to the dust. 6 The foot tramples it,the feet of the poor, the steps of the needy.”PROVERBS 16

16:1 The plans of the heart belong to man,but the answer of the tongue is from the Lord. 2 All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the spirit. 3 Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established. 4 The Lord has made everything for its purpose, even the wicked for the day of trouble. 5 Everyone who is arrogant in heart is an abomination to the Lord;be assured, he will not go unpunished. 6 By steadfast love and faithfulness iniquity is atoned for,and by the fear of the Lord one turns away from evil. 7 When a man’s ways please the Lord,he makes even his enemies to be at peace with him. 8 Better is a little with righteousnessthan great revenues with injustice. 9 The heart of man plans his way,but the Lord establishes his steps. 10 An oracle is on the lips of a king;his mouth does not sin in judgment. 11 A just balance and scales are the Lord’s;all the weights in the bag are his work. 12 It is an abomination to kings to do evil, for the throne is established by righteousness. 13 Righteous lips are the delight of a king, and he loves him who speaks what is right. 14 A king’s wrath is a messenger of death, and a wise man will appease it. 15 In the light of a king’s face there is life, and his favor is like the clouds that bring the spring rain. 16 How much better to get wisdom than gold!To get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver. 17 The highway of the upright turns aside from evil;whoever guards his way preserves his life. 18 Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall. 19 It is better to be of a lowly spirit with the poorthan to divide the spoil with the proud. 20 Whoever gives thought to the word will discover good, and blessed is he who trusts in the Lord. 21 The wise of heart is called discerning, and sweetness of speech increases persuasiveness. 22 Good sense is a fountain of life to him who has it,but the instruction of fools is folly. 23 The heart of the wise makes his speech judiciousand adds persuasiveness to his lips. 24 Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body. 25 There is a way that seems right to a man,but its end is the way to death. 26 A worker’s appetite works for him;his mouth urges him on. 27 A worthless man plots evil, and his speech is like a scorching fire. 28 A dishonest man spreads strife, and a whisperer separates close friends. 29 A man of violence entices his neighborand leads him in a way that is not good. 30 Whoever winks his eyes plans dishonest things;he who purses his lips brings evil to pass. 31 Gray hair is a crown of glory;it is gained in a righteous life. 32 Whoever is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city. 33 The lot is cast into the lap,but its every decision is from the Lord.HEBREWS 3

Jesus Greater Than Moses 3:1 Therefore, holy brothers, you who share in a heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the apostle and high priest of our confession, 2 who was faithful to him who appointed him, just as Moses also was faithful in all God’s house. 3 For Jesus has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses—as much more glory as the builder of a house has more honor than the house itself. 4 (For every house is built by someone, but the builder of all things is God.) 5 Now Moses was faithful in all God’s house as a servant, to testify to the things that were to be spoken later, 6 but Christ is faithful over God’s house as a son. And we are his house, if indeed we hold fast our confidence and our boasting in our hope. A Rest for the People of God7 Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says,“Today, if you hear his voice, 8 do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion,on the day of testing in the wilderness, 9 where your fathers put me to the testand saw my works for forty years. 10 Therefore I was provoked with that generation, and said, ‘They always go astray in their heart;they have not known my ways.’ 11 As I swore in my wrath,‘They shall not enter my rest.’” 12 Take care, brothers, lest there be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart, leading you to fall away from the living God. 13 But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called “today,” that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. 14 For we have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original confidence firm to the end. 15 As it is said,“Today, if you hear his voice,do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.” 16 For who were those who heard and yet rebelled? Was it not all those who left Egypt led by Moses? 17 And with whom was he provoked for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies fell in the wilderness? 18 And to whom did he swear that they would not enter his rest, but to those who were disobedient? 19 So we see that they were unable to enter because of unbelief. The ESV® Bible (The Holy Bible, English Standard Version® copyright © 2001 by Crossway Bibles, a publishing ministry of Good News Publishers.
