JEREMIAH 8
« Jeremiah 7 | Jeremiah 8 | Jeremiah 9 »
8:1 “At that time, declares the Lord, the bones of the kings of Judah, the bones of its officials, the bones of the priests, the bones of the prophets, and the bones of the inhabitants of Jerusalem shall be brought out of their tombs. 2 And they shall be spread before the sun and the moon and all the host of heaven, which they have loved and served, which they have gone after, and which they have sought and worshiped. And they shall not be gathered or buried. They shall be as dung on the surface of the ground. 3 Death shall be preferred to life by all the remnant that remains of this evil family in all the places where I have driven them, declares the Lord of hosts. Sin and Treachery4 “You shall say to them, Thus says the Lord:When men fall, do they not rise again? If one turns away, does he not return? 5 Why then has this people turned awayin perpetual backsliding? They hold fast to deceit;they refuse to return. 6 I have paid attention and listened, but they have not spoken rightly;no man relents of his evil, saying, ‘What have I done?’Everyone turns to his own course, like a horse plunging headlong into battle. 7 Even the stork in the heavensknows her times, and the turtledove, swallow, and cranekeep the time of their coming, but my people know notthe rules of the Lord.1 THESSALONIANS 4

A Life Pleasing to God 4:1 Finally, then, brothers, we ask and urge you in the Lord Jesus, that as you received from us how you ought to walk and to please God, just as you are doing, that you do so more and more. 2 For you know what instructions we gave you through the Lord Jesus. 3 For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality; 4 that each one of you know how to control his own body in holiness and honor, 5 not in the passion of lust like the Gentiles who do not know God; 6 that no one transgress and wrong his brother in this matter, because the Lord is an avenger in all these things, as we told you beforehand and solemnly warned you. 7 For God has not called us for impurity, but in holiness. 8 Therefore whoever disregards this, disregards not man but God, who gives his Holy Spirit to you.The ESV® Bible (The Holy Bible, English Standard Version® copyright © 2001 by Crossway Bibles, a publishing ministry of Good News Publishers.
