About the Bible

God breathed out every word of the Bible. It was written over the course of 1,500 years by forty men moved by the Holy Spirit. These men came from all walks of life, from powerful kingships to humble fishing boats, and recorded the historical accounts, laws, poetry, prophecies, eyewitness testimonies, and personal letters contained in the Bible's 66 books. God's central message through their pen is His supreme glory most awesomely revealed in the finished work of His Son, Jesus Christ, who lived, died, and rose again to save sinners.

The Bible Speaks for Itself
A Selection of Verses About God's Word

...knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes from someone's own interpretation. For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
2 Peter 1:20-21

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness...
2 Timothy 3:16

The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul;
the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple;
the precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart;
the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes;
the fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever;
the rules of the Lord are true, and righteous altogether.
More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold;
sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb.

Psalm 19:7-10

Psalm 119: The psalmist meditates on the word of God with every letter of the Hebrew alphabet.

For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
Hebrews 4:12

Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.
2 Timothy 2:15

You shall therefore lay up these words of mine in your heart and in your soul, and you shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall teach them to your children, talking of them when you are sitting in your house, and when you are walking by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates...
Deuteronomy 11:18-20

Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. And after fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. And the tempter came and said to him, "If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become loaves of bread." But he answered, "It is written,
    "'Man shall not live by bread alone,
    but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.'"

Matthew 4:1-4

So put away all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander. Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation—if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is good.
1 Peter 2:1-3

Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways!
    "For who has known the mind of the Lord,
    or who has been his counselor?"
    "Or who has given a gift to him
    that he might be repaid?"
For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen.
